He said that the status of the US delegation visiting India for the next round of trade talks to be known closer to the scheduled date of August 25.

US Treasury Secretary on trade deal

Earlier on Tuesday, the United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the trade talks between India and the United States are ongoing. He also hoped that a deal could be reached in October.

India remains firm on key components of the deal like agriculture, dairy, and auto. Speaking on the deal negotiations, Bessent said, “India has been a bit recalcitrant.”

Trade talks with China

The Commerce Secretary said that trade with China is moving positively. He said that Indian authorities are in touch with China on the rare earth magnets trade. The government is trying to ensure that the supply chain of the rare earth magnets does not get affected.
