Reliance Jio, a major player in India’s telecom sector, is collaborating with Aptos Foundation and Aptos Labs to introduce blockchain-driven rewards for its extensive customer base of over 500 million users.
As the leading mobile network provider in India, Jio intends to incorporate Aptos’ layer-1 blockchain technology to offer digital incentives through its telecommunications services. This initiative was unveiled by Pawas Chandra, the general manager and business head at Jio, during the “Aptos Experience” event.
Aptos stands out for its rapid and cost-effective infrastructure capable of managing substantial transaction volumes—an essential attribute given Jio’s vast operations. According to Chandra, these blockchain-based rewards are currently undergoing beta testing with approximately 9.4 million participants involved in this trial phase.
The partnership emphasizes practical applications rather than speculative ventures. The objective is to seamlessly weave blockchain technology into everyday digital experiences as stated in their announcement.
Aptos Labs will be responsible for delivering the technical expertise required to develop and maintain this platform effectively.
