BlackRock’s crypto portfolio surges nearly $30 billion in Q3 2026

BlackRock Inc. (NYSE: BLK) has seen its cryptocurrency portfolio rocket by nearly $30 billion during the third quarter (Q3) of 2026.

BlackRock’s crypto trove soared by $29.54 billion over the past three months, starting from July 1 , according to data Finbold fetched from Arkham Intelligence on September 30, 2026.

At the time of writing, BlackRock held about $77.1 billion in crypto assets, having gained from $47.56 billion at the start of this quarter.

As a result, the firm’s cryptocurrency portfolio has grown by roughly 62.11% over the past three months. This significant gain in Q3 was catalyzed by crypto’s uptrend amid its aggressive accumulation.

As of press time, Bitcoin ($BTC) price had risen by over 42% in Q3 2026, up from $58,564 on July 1 to nearly $84,000 on Wednesday. On the other hand, Ethereum ($ETH) price has rallied by more than 70% during the same period, up from $1,570 at the beginning of the quarter to $2,667 at press time.

BlackRock’s crypto holdings change for Q3 2026

At the beginning of Q3 2026, the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) held about 738,200 $BTC, valued at around $43.23 billion. However, IBIT has accrued 63,070 $BTC, representing an 8.54% gain, and holds 801,270 coins at the time of publication.

On the other hand, BlackRock’s two $ETH spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs): iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) and iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHB) opened the quarter with 2.75 million $ETH. During the past three months, this fund manager purchased over 1 million $ETH, representing a 36.49% uptick.

Consequently, BlackRock held 3.76 million $ETH at the time of reporting. As such, BlackRock’s investors leaned more heavily on Ethereum than Bitcoin during the third quarter of 2026, despite $BTC accounting for 80.57% of its crypto portfolio gains.
