Bitcoin's Surge: Unrelated to McRib's Return

Enthusiasts of cryptocurrency, particularly those monitoring Bitcoin’s (BTC) value in relation to the reappearance of McDonald’s McRib, found themselves overly enthusiastic this week due to an erroneous report from an online news source about the sandwich’s comeback.

Jack McCordic, who goes by “internbrah” on X, asserts that historically the return of the McRib has been associated with up to a twofold increase in BTC’s price.

According to McCordic’s data visualization, when the McRib made its way back into US menus in 2020 and 2023 and appeared in UK outlets in 2024, BTC saw respective surges of 237%, 71%, and 58% over subsequent months.

However, he overlooks that during its November 2021 release stateside, BTC actually plummeted by a staggering 74%.

The graph also omits mentioning October 2022’s US release as part of a “Farewell Tour,” followed by another appearance in December 2024. On these occasions respectively, BTC decreased by nearly a quarter within one week and dropped another fifth over five months.

Despite these less-than-appetizing outcomes for Bitcoin enthusiasts, McCordic shared his chart last Thursday after Dextero erroneously announced that the sandwich would be returning to UK locations on October 16.

He advised his audience not to disregard potential impacts from this culinary event while adding it onto his chart for further analysis.

Dexerto later removed their article following confirmation from Protos through communication with McDonald&8217;s UK representatives stating there would be no upcoming return for this month.

Sorry, folks.

The situation suggests Dexerto might have mistakenly referenced last year’s announcement regarding an identical date claim about its arrival back then too.
