Patrick Witt, who recently took over as the cryptocurrency advisor for the White House following Bo Hines’ resignation, has made his inaugural remarks.
In his address, he emphasized the significance of Bitcoin and highlighted that accumulating BTC is among the highest priorities for the US government.
As reported by Coindesk, Patrick Witt outlined three main objectives for cryptocurrency policy in the United States.
The priorities he identified are:
- Accumulating Bitcoin for government reserves
- Pushing forward with the Senate’s Digital Asset Market Structure Act (CLARITY)
- Enforcing regulations under the GENIUS Act related to stablecoins
“From my perspective, prioritizing Bitcoin accumulation by our government is essential.”
Witt further mentioned that he is focused on addressing legal challenges associated with Bitcoin acquisition and exploring innovative methods to facilitate additional purchases.
Nevertheless, he did not provide details on how these reserves could be expanded beyond assets obtained through criminal investigations.
