The gross domestic revenue grew 9.6 per cent to Rs 1.37 lakh crore, while tax from imports dipped 1.2 per cent to Rs 49,354 crore in August. GST refunds were down 20 per cent year-on-year to Rs 19,359 crore in the month.
Net GST revenue stood at Rs 1.67 lakh crore in August 2025, recording 10.7 per cent year-on-year growth.
GST rate cut on key products
The GST data comes just two days before the GST Council meeting, which is comprised of the Centre and states, which will deliberate on rate rationalisation and reducing the number of tax slabs.

Meanwhile, the government is preparing to reduce the GST rate on many products. According to a Reuters report, the proposed changes in the GST slabs could cut the GST rate by 10 percentage points on over 175 products.
Further, the report says that the government is preparing to reduce the GST on small hybrid cars and motorcycles from 28 per cent to 18 per cent.
The report also says that the government plans to reduce GST on air conditioners, televisions, and cement from 28 per cent to 18 per cent.
